SPEC SIZZLE REEL SAMPLE

ASSIGNMENT: Cracker Jack’s made up for the sake of this exercise “main competitor” Crunch Pops is ready to set off their re-branding and re-launch for 2021. Their iconic American packaging has undergone a make-over in hopes to stay relevant. They want to lean just a little on nostalgia yet break through to new generations.

1. A GRANDFATHER gets up from his seat at a minor league baseball game and strolls to the concession stand during the singing of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

2. He looks at the packaging of products and picks up “Crunch Pops” just as the lyric “Buy me some peanuts and Crunchy Pops” is sung. The record skips. He looks at the revamped package in horror.

TEXT: These ain’t your granddad’s “Crunch Pops.”

3. We see the old, beloved Crunch Pops packaging morph into its spiffy new modern packaging with a tip of the cap to the old design.

4. Young, hip, MOM and DAD leave their precious BOY and GIRL with SAVVY YOUNG BABYSITTER.

5. The babysitter looks at a note that reads “SNACKS” which the parents have left behind. The kids excitedly choose the CRUNCH POPS from a bevy of snack options.

6. On the couch as the kids’ show starts, the kids excitedly open their Crunch Pops boxes with the logo on the box: BETTER PRIZES. Sure enough they lose it when they open up the way cool, way better mini-toys!

7. Better quality prizes and packaging are shown off in studio.

8. The babysitter on the couch has clearly never had Crunch Pops before. The look at the packaging with skepticism. But they, like the kids as they watch the kid’s show, are loving the taste of the salty-sweet and crunchy snack. Immediately the babysitter goes on their phone and brings up the new Crunch Pops App, which features a fun Crunch Pops Arcade Game.

9. The new app and arcade game are briefly shown off in studio.

10. Meanwhile, as hip young mom and dad go out to the movies on their date, they stop by the concession stand. Mom points to a new line of Crunch Pops products behind the movie theatre CASHIER, who proudly hands the three new Crunch Pops flavors for mom and dad to peruse.

11. The new CANDY SHOP flavors of Crunch Pops are shown off in studio.

12/13. Intercut: Mom and Dad at the movies and the kids and babysitter at home are enjoying the heck out of the new/traditional flavors. The babysitter even takes a selfie to post about it.

14. Granddad returns to his seat at the ballgame and guess who’s there. Our family. He opens up a box of his beloved Crunch Pops and savors the flavor with the whole gang as they enjoy the heck out of the product and the game.
